Where we are in the accreditation cycle

In plain English

What BHCOE actually reviews

The Behavioral Health Center of Excellence is an international accrediting body focused specifically on applied behavior analysis. Its standards were written by clinicians and researchers in the field, and they examine the things a brochure can’t tell you.

Are decisions driven by data?

How treatment plans are written, how progress is measured session by session, and what changes when the data shows a program isn't working. Goals have to be specific, tracked, and revised — not set once and left alone.

Who is in the room, and are they qualified?

Credentials of our BCBAs and behavior technicians, how new staff are onboarded, and whether supervision happens at the intensity the field considers appropriate — not just the minimum a schedule allows.

What do families say when it's anonymous?

Confidential caregiver surveys about communication, scheduling, progress, and whether parents feel like partners in the plan. A provider can document its way through a policy review. It can't talk its way past this.

Is the organization stable and ethical?

Staff turnover and satisfaction, clinical oversight, and adherence to the ethical standards of the profession. High turnover disrupts a child's progress, so how a provider treats its team is a quality measure too.

Verify it yourself

Don’t take our word for it. Our accreditation is listed publicly — look us up by accreditation ID 667572 in the BHCOE directory. We’d encourage you to do the same for every provider you’re considering.

Common questions

What families ask us about this

No. Your child keeps the same team, the same schedule, and the same plan. Accreditation recognizes work already underway rather than changing it.

No, and it’s worth knowing the difference. Licensure is the legal permission to operate. Accreditation is voluntary — an outside body reviews the quality of the work against published standards and can decline to award it.

It’s the standard accreditation status BHCOE awards to a practice that meets its Standards of Excellence for applied behavior analysis. Ours runs the full two-year cycle to August 2028.

It doesn’t guarantee it, but many funders and referral partners look for it when evaluating providers. Coverage still depends on your specific plan — our intake team can check your benefits before you commit to anything.

Our applied behavior analysis services. Our other programs — early intervention, school-based services, autism diagnosis, and mental health counseling — operate under their own applicable licensing and professional standards.
